Well here's the first of 6 board reviews from the '09/'10 on snow on demos that I participated in last week. You have to keep in mind that I only took at most 4 runs on each of these boards and all the following words are my initial reactions to how each of them rode. Had I been able to spend an entire day or more on each board, these reviews might be a little different, as it usually takes some getting used to when riding a new board. So if you don't like my review and absolutely love the board I'm talking about, hold off on talking shit and read the above 3 sentences again.
If there's anything in the review I don't cover and you want to know about, just ask. I'll probably know the answer, and if I don't, I'll point you in the right direction.
2009/2010 Lib Tech Skunk Ape 157 Wide BTX

To fully comprehend this review and get the best feel for what this board is all about, you need to click here and listen to a few songs from the new Lamb Of God album while reading this. Really, it's mandatory.
The ins and outs
The fine people at Lib Technologies crafted the Skunk Ape with the big-ass Sasquatch sized snowboarders with clown feet in mind. This twin free-style board only comes in one waist option, wide. Now, I'm right on the cusp of being able to ride a regular sized board and needing a wide. I ride with my bindings ducked out at 17 and -17 degrees so my 11.5 sized boots fit fine on the smaller waist boards and fit perfectly on the wide boards. I've been riding a 25.5 cm waist Skate Banana for the past two seasons and haven't had one single problem with toe or heal drag, or any other performance problems. It also helps that my binders are raised about a 1/2" to 3/4" off the board. Before that I rode a 157w Lib Phoenix and a 161w Lib Factory Test Magne-Trac for a pow stick, so the transition from wide, to regular, back to wide hasn't been a problem for me. Lib's specs recommend the Skunk Ape for a size 10.5 or bigger boot, but again depending on you binding angles, (in my case) you can get away with riding a smaller waist board. However, if your feet are bigger than a size 12, you need a wide board for sure, no questions asked.
Snow Conditions and weather
Hard packed groomies, cold, snowy, shitty day
Set-up
157w BTX Skunk Ape, my Bentmetal Step-in binders, 25" stance with 17 & -17 degree angles, Vans 11.5 DK4 boots, awesome mu-stache.
Like a noodle, or a 2x4?
Stiff, stiff, stiff! Stiff like a big ole'... Ah you get the point. Again, not designed for the status quo 5'6" 150lb rider, the Skunk Ape is stiff to handle a real man riding it. Even with the Banana Tech, (reverse camber) it was still very stiff overall. Perhaps because I'm used to the softer Skate Banana, the first run I took on this board was a little weird. I tried to pop any ollie the way I usually do with the Banana and got about 6 inches off the ground. "Whoa this is super Stiff!" I said. (And also what she said) You really have to load up that back foot for a good pop. After a few attempts I got it dialed in and was able to snap off some big ollies. Stiffer board = more pop. It's science. The nose and tail are a little softer, chalk that up to the Banana Tech, but not much. I tried to butter around on it, and again you have to load up pretty good to make the board bend. Torsionally stiff also for a very stable ride.
Is it easy to turn?
Does a fat baby fart? Take a look at this equation: Effective Edge/Magne Trac x Banana Tech - Stiffness x Pi + Bad Ass Heavy Metal graphics, all square rooted, = Totally fucking awesome and easy to turn. It was super easy for me because I've been riding the Banana Tech (BTX) for almost 2 years now and am so dialed on it, I can turn in my sleep. But for everyone else who has yet to experience the BTX, it's very easy to initiate turns, the Magne wiggles hold an edge like a vise grip, the Banana makes it ride skateboard-esque and edge to edge transitions are quick and effortless... Like how I pick up babes at the club... Holla!

Stability ability
Stiffer and wide make for a very stable board. At warp speed and just cruisin' along. I didn't really notice any board chop suey when bombing, and didn't ever wash out while turning. Also very stable for huge rooster tail slashes, lay backs, and gaper sprays.
Riding backwards
Since it's a twin shape and my stance is as even as the number 2, riding switch was no problem. I've really dialed in my switch game this season and usually ride the wrong way about half the time down the hill.
Booters and Boxes
I took every board I rode through the little mini park at Keystone and hit a 3 box jib line followed by a 3 set jump line. I didn't really want to take boards I'd never ridden through the bigger parks. The boxes were a flat, flat down, and finally a smaller, longer, slightly up. Very easy. No huge ollie or side approach necessary. The jumps were also pretty mellow, getting progressively bigger. The last hit was a decent 10-15 foot table. I didn't throw down any ground breaking maneuvers... 50s, 5-0s, board slides, half-asses front boards, and a couple nose press tail slappys on the boxes, and shifties, stalefishies, nose and tail grabs, a couple back ones, and of course at least one method every time through the park. No double corked rodeo 10's, sorry. Also, I didn't de-tune any of the boards I rode.
I found the Skunk Ape handled very well on the boxes and even better off the jumps. It's not exactly a jib board, being so stiff, but it was easy enough to slide around on. It was super stable off the jumps and on the landings. I didn't have a problem with washing out at all, but then again I wasn't trying to pull a b/s 7 around either. Methods are very easy to grab with the Skunk Ape and everyone below watching gets scared when they see all the skulls. I had tons O' fun in the park on this board, and kind of wish I would've been able to ride it longer and take it off some of the bigger jumps.
Everything except...
I didn't ride any pow, (I know it kills it though) the half pipe, drop any cliffs, or air guitar the board, so if you need that info, you're just going to have to keep searching.
Art and Graphics
So fucking awesome! Done again by Lib artist Qunicy Quigg, the bad-ass skulls and skeletons make me want to listen to Heavy Metal and trash dance all the way down the mountain. I love this graphic, and so does the devil.
Good, bad, or ugly?
Overall a super duper fun board. Stiff, (if you haven't figured that out already) very stable, pops like a balloon, and makes snowboarding very enjoyable. If you're a big, hairy dude (or chick) who likes to have fun all over the mountain, the Lib Tech Skunk Ape is what you need to spend your money. Dig it.

Great review Zac. I haven't had the chance to try out a Lib Tech board yet but I've heard so much about them... and this review (and the board graphics) really make me want to give them a try! :)
**This Comment is from BennyBoy214 from Snowboard-mag.com. I posted a link for the review there and he left this comment, I thought it might be helpful to some people who are thinking about getting this board.**
I've put in around 30 days on a 162 Skunk Ape BTX this season.
Sickest board I have ever strapped into.
I'm 6'3" 180lbs, size 12 boots. No toe drag with 15/-15 angles.
This thing is buttery smooth to me, but a smaller rider might not think so.
It presses boxes, lands kickers, and shreds powder.
Kinda squirrely on hard park moguls.
If you are a big footed rider looking for a do-everything board, BUY ONE!
Loving the fully demonic graphics.
PEACE!
Nice review. Being a big rider I am always looking for innovative wide boards. I just picked up this year's Skunk Ape, and this got me pretty stoked to ride it. I kind of wish I held out for next year's graphics, but I got a good deal.
i have been stoked on the sunkape since the first time i read about it. Only thing totally don't like is the graphics. oh well, taste, eh...i ride -3 +6 with size 12 so i need a wide board. Right now i'm riding a burton canyon, old style. with the carbon and the eye graphic? what bums me out with this board is that it is a little too stiff. even now cuz it never really got less stiff. i like jibbing and buttering as well, next to as much powder i can find so i wonder if the skunkape is as stiff as my board or less so....whish i could test it....but since i can't, anyone here or you zac any ideas about this?
mpg - Yeah it's a sick board... And don't be too bummed about the graphics, I actually like this years better then next years!
dMb - The whole idea behind the Skunk Ape is to accommodate the bigger rider, so it's going to be stiffer. It's pretty much the equivalent of a 165 lb dude riding a regular board... The Skunk Ape would feel unbelievably stiff to him because he weighs 165 lbs... But to someone like me, (I weigh 210 lbs) and the other big ass dudes out there, It's not going to feel the same.
I only mentioned how stiff it felt to me in the review because I've been riding the much softer Skate Banana for the last 2 seasons.
You have to remember that this is a true twin, freestyle board, made to jib and shred the park, just meant for a bigger dude.
I've had quite a few emails from people saying they need wide boards because of their feet and they've been riding Burtons and they're way to stiff... The Skunk Ape will definitely be softer and more buttery, but will also hold up.
I would 100% recommend picking up a Skunk Ape and tossing that Burton in the trash... It's a way more fun board.
I hope that helps you out dude. Let me know if you have any more questions!
thanks a lot for the reply (i was on holidays in 15 feet of powder(! i'm not kidding, it was hard sometimes because i would be in champagne powder up to my neck, pretty hard to get out. but who cares:) best powder i have had in 15 years))for the last 14 days so i couldn't react sooner) your reply really helped me out a lot. i'm 6'4" and 220 lbs so i ought to be able to butter my ass off then:)i'm so buying this board and i can't wait till next years season.
All you that are "bummed" about the graphics....who gives a shit really! One of my decks, k2www, is hot pink underneath, so rock whatever feels good for you! One thing I can't stand is riders that rock all matching shit, including matching color bindings and board. And especially the outfit! Go back to the Bay! It doesn't matter what you look like up there people!
No, I was a snowboard instructor at Sugar Bowl in Tahoe o8-o9 season and rode my o9 Skunk Ape til the wheels fell off...literally. Its got a flat spot on the left tail just above the effective edge because I used it so much (well, drug it back to the locker room) I rode it every single day, not overexagerating, from Dec 15 08-Apr 26, 09. And only waxed it once haha!
Its a great deck and I highly recommend it. I wish I got it when they offered it in the BTX. I bought it early in the year after my o8 skunk ape got stolen by some guy that probably just had to have it for the top sheet graphix.
DMB alias michan101:
to donnersummitdweller about the graphics. Man, it's about the ugliest board i've ever seen. i'm still buying it, though. but that don't mean that a man can't have taste, preferences or a yearning for optimality (is that a word? i'm not english). the yearning for optimal has to do with style. you don't care about style? the perfect turn, the shaun palmer method, jamy lynn 720's? you don't think they cared about style? snowboarding and expressing yourself through style have been connected ever since the days of terry kidwell, damian saunders (he would have loved this board:)) and the aforementioned shaun palmer. had something to do with tolerance, letting others like what they wanted to like, ride how and on what they wanted to ride. Now if you want to start a conversation of how this quest for optimal style has killed the inherent free nature of snowboarding, i'm right with you. but that don't mean i need the thoughtpolice what i should or should not care about. that's just more of the same. take care, lets hope for a cold winter:)
I'm about the biggest snowboarder that you can find out there. I stand 6' 6", weigh about 280 and have a size 15 boot. I just picked up the new 172 skunk ape and it has got to be the sickest board I've ever ridden. The extra width and length let me keep the board under control and lay perfect carves all the way down the run. Definitely worth it for any other big guys out there
For all the haters about the graphics. One thing to know about lib tech - they pride themselves on making ugly decks and in fact go out of their way ... anti establishment jag on the snowboarding industry. I have been riding Lib tech for almost 20 years, and let me tell ya these graphics are a far cry from the ole days which were truly hideous which was all the more reason to love these boards. I purchased the Skunk last season to replace my old Litigator - the banana tech is truly amazing. Once again Lib tech has out done themselves.

Hello, as you can see this is my first post here.
Hope to receive any help from you if I will have some quesitons.
Thanks and good luck everyone! ;)
This board is freaking sick. I got last years, and love it. Used to ride a lot of park, before i broke my neck, and rode a M3 convoy (SUPER gooey board) so yeah, getting used to the ape was a little weird. But after 2 days it was easy to dial in. Im a bigger guy, 5'11" and 210 (damn PBR is my weakness!) size 12 boot with no risers and every thing fits fine. Rode east last year (killington) and had a hell of an ice day. will tell you have never had such a great time on that shit. this board just eats up everything it touches. So, going with the theme here, if you want a great, all around board that rips, get the ape, and get it now!
I just discovered SatelliteTV on my PC! Ultra cheap at only $50 once off to get the software and an account on the Internet. I get more channels(in HD I might ad) than I get on cable so tomorrow I reckon I'm going to cancel my cable subscription. Thought I'd share this with you guys, worth to check out.
Fuck-n-a. I just found the Skunk Ape 169 online at 40% off, and snagged it like a stripper's tit! I couldn't decide between this board and the more traditional Burton Custom X Wide 168. I went with the Lib-Tech because 1) your review kills, 2) the graphic kill, 3) it's easier on the wallet than the shitty deals on the Custom X in my size (what can I say, I'm a fucking sasquatch), and 4) I want to support the local craftsmen. I can't wait for my shit to arrive next week. I paired it with Burton CO2 bindings I found at half off. My setup is going to slay! Bou-chka-wow-wow! Hey, thanks for posting this seriously great review. If you ever make it to Bend, Oregon, hit a brotha up!

Playing bingo needs more than luck or skills and techniques, contrary to what most believe. Bingo, just like any game of chance, comes with rules and regulations that players should observe. Being a player comes with responsibilities and etiquette.
Winning the Game
The moment you figured out you won, you must immediately yell BINGO, and it should be loud enough for the floor walker to hear. The pot money shall be given to the winner once their winning card is confirmed. Well, in winning or once you know you just won, the most important thing is that you shout the winning word BEFORE the time elapses. If the game proceeds and the next number is mentioned and you failed to shout "Bingo", your winning card is disqualified. Therefore, this is the rule you must know.
There may be cases when there are two winners, and in this case the pot money shall be divided equally among the winners. Supposing there are two winning cards, the two winners will share half the prize money.
Bingo Game Rules
Bingo rules are basically the same no matter in which Online Bingo hall you play. But still it's good if you know these rules by heart. If it is your first try, then ask for handouts and inquire from pros regarding the game rules. Nonetheless, the ideal thing to do if you have questions is to ask the floor walker and not the person seated beside you. You should clarify things and doubts before the game starts because asking too many questions as the game proceeds could well distract you. This guideline also applies to those who are newcomers at casinos, those who play roulette for the first time.
Bingo halls demand an age limit of 18 years old. If you are below this age, you are prohibited to play. Some bingo houses ban alcohol inside, so players aren't supposed to take liquor nor drink it inside the venue. Smoking may also be restricted inside the venue, as there are designated smoking sections.
Take note that some Bingo houses don't allow food but some do, so it basically depends on the venue. Policies vary among different venues. For instance, some bingo halls allow reservation of cards, while others don't allow it. Some allow people to leave the venue in the middle of the game, others forbid it. But there are general policies observed in all bingo houses, such as disqualification of tampered bingo cards. There is no way you can get away with a tampered card because the walkers are adept at identifying authentic cards from tampered ones. You could be banned from a bingo establishment if proven liable of tampering a card. Hence, you should play honestly.
Interestingly, some venues offer special bingo games for kids although some halls don't allow players to have companions while playing. Suppose you bring kids with you, don't let them run around the venue and bother other gamers. They should behave well whilst you play and the game proceeds. Play quietly and don't recite the numbers you desperately want to come off because you'll be much of a disturbance if you do. Decorous playing is expectant of all players, even those who play roulette at casinos. Also, having a valid identification is important because you don't know you might win and need to present credentials.
